Programs
Alcohol and Cannabis Risk Reduction Sessions
Register for personalized, evidence-based sessions to help students assess their alcohol use (BASICS session) or cannabis use (ICHAMP session) and reduce the associated risks. Contact Jamie Laurson to book an appointment.

Nicotine & Tobacco Cessation Resources
Quitting nicotine is most successful when medication and support are used together. Combine nicotine replacement or prescription medication with a structured support program to increase your chances of quitting for good.
On-Campus Support
- Quit kits - Available in 187 McCormick Hall, M–F 8 a.m.–4:30 p.m. and at the Wellness gazebo during the academic year.
- Medication support - Nicotine patches, gum, lozenges, and other over-the-counter cessation products are available for students at the SHS Pharmacy. Students can schedule an appointment with Student Health Services to discuss quitting options.
Free Support Programs
- Illinois Tobacco Quitline - 1-866-QUIT-YES Free counseling, personalized plans, text support, and free nicotine replacement.
- Truth Initiative EX Program - Online quit program with daily texts and community support.
- SMART Recovery - Evidence-based online program focused on overcoming addictive behaviors and creating behavior change.
