Lifestyle Enhancement classes support faculty, staff, their families, ISU retirees, and alumni.
Wellness Participation Policy
Since 1984, Illinois State University has upheld a Wellness Participation Policy to support the well-being of faculty and staff, allowing employees to request up to 90 minutes per week for personal wellness activities.

Lifestyle Enhancement Classes
T'ai Chi
Based on the evidence-based approach developed by Yang Yang, who introduced T'ai Chi at Illinois State in 1993, this class series focuses on improving strength, neuromuscular control, and balance through Chen Style T'ai Chi and qigong training.

Faculty/Staff Only Group Fitness Classes
Group fitness classes exclusively for faculty and staff members are now offered at the Student Fitness Center. A Student Fitness Center membership is required. Register
Faculty/Staff Program Pass at the Student Fitness Center
Campus Recreation and Health Promotion and Wellness (HPW) are providing this complimentary program pass for the fall semester (8/10-12/23), which includes:
- Access to the SFC's third-floor indoor walking track Monday through Friday from 6:30–8 a.m. and 11 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
- Noonball pickup basketball on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 12–1:30 p.m.
- Faculty/Staff-only group fitness classes including Yoga Flow and Pilates.
Passes are available beginning August 10 at the Student Fitness Center Welcome Desk. A valid Illinois State University Redbird Card is required.
