National College Health Assessment Data
In 1998, the American College Health Association (ACHA) initiated the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) to address a broad range of health, risk and protective behaviors, consequences of health behaviors, and perceptions of health among students. In 2009, changes were made to the survey, and the instrument was retitled the NCHA-II
The survey also assesses illness and the effects of selected health conditions on academic performance. Health Promotion and Wellness staff at Illinois State University have administered the survey to students on campus, every other year since 2000, with a four-year gap from 2015 to 2019.
