Fresh FAVs is a campus program that aims to increase the availability and consumption of fresh produce on campus. Similar to a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, produce is purchased in bulk from Gordon Foods at a great price. Priced much lower than the grocery store, Fresh FAVs is extremely cost effective for faculty, staff, and students*. Fresh FAVs is a collaboration between the dietetic interns in Family and Consumer Sciences, Health Promotion and Wellness, and Campus Dining.
Participants typically receive a 50/50 split of fruits and vegetables. Each week you will receive an average of seven different types of produce, along with recipes on how to use the produce. There are three options for bag sizes:
Your one-time payment covers all eight weeks of the program. Space is limited to 300 participants.
Bags will be available for pick up on Fridays between Noon and 1:30 p.m. and between 3:30 and 5 p.m. at the John Green Food Service Building. Unwanted and unclaimed items will be donated to the School Street Food Pantry.
There is now an option to purchase a small produce bag that will be donated to the School Street Food Pantry each of the 8 weeks of the Spring 2020 Fresh FAVs program! When registering, you can select the ‘Donation of a Small Bag’ and also we have our usual options for you: small, medium and large bags of produce. There is a limit of 50 bags for donation. (The donated bags will be delivered to the Pantry by the Fresh FAVs staff, you can pick up your purchased bag as usual).
*Please note that produce is high quality, but not local or organic. If you would like to support local farmers, visit the Local Harvest CSA page to find a CSA near you or the Local Harvest Farmers Markets page to locate a farmers market near you.
